Expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam, commonly known as Styrofoam (the lightweight material used in packaging of electronic devices, food items and electric appliances), is popularly used because of its water and heat resistant properties.

EPS has an Ozone Depletion Potential of zero and causes no damage to the ozone layer. Why? Because no CFC’s or HCFC’s are used during the manufacturing process.

Styrofoam use increases every year

According to GBI Research, global demand for both polystyrene and EPS increased to 14.9 million tons in 2010 from 13 million tons in 2000, swelling to 23.5 million tons in 2020. Some of the product is sourced from the Middle East.
